Fuel Level Indicator Module for Mitsubishi
Keep your dashboard honest and your trips stress‑free. This fuel level sensor (tank sender) delivers precise tank volume data to the instrument cluster, so you know exactly when to refuel and how far you can go. Built to OEM spec for Mitsubishi platforms, it ensures dependable readings in daily use and long journeys.
Why you need it ⛽
Accurate level feedback prevents running out of fuel, helps plan stops, and protects the in‑tank pump by keeping it cooled and lubricated. It also supports range estimates and low‑fuel warnings, improving economy and safety.
How it works
Inside the tank, a buoyant float rides on the fuel surface. As the level changes, the float arm sweeps a precision resistor track (potentiometer). The changing resistance travels through the harness to the cluster/BCM, which converts it into a needle position or digital bars. Built‑in damping filters slosh so the reading stays stable over bumps.
When it fails ⚠️
Typical faults: worn resistor track, stuck float, bent arm, cracked connector, or corroded pins. Symptoms include erratic gauge, stuck Full/Empty, slow response, or surprise stalling because the display shows fuel when the tank is near dry. Prolonged dry running can overheat the pump and clog filters. OBD codes like P0461–P0463 may appear.
Fitment & install tips ✅
Match by VIN and tank type; inspect wiring. Replace the sealing gasket, torque the lock ring evenly, and route the loom away from heat. Calibrate if the cluster allows. Work with low fuel, disconnect the battery, and ventilate the area.
