Engine Coolant Thermostat Assembly for Mitsubishi

This OEM‑grade coolant regulator assembly keeps your Mitsubishi engine at the ideal temperature for power, economy, and long life. It includes the valve, seal, and housing interfaces needed to restore factory cooling behavior and stable cabin heat. Perfect for petrol and diesel models that warm up slowly or run too hot.

Why you need it ❄️

The engine is designed to operate around a specific temperature window. This part shortens warm‑up, improves fuel efficiency, reduces wear, and prevents overheating. Without a healthy regulator, the ECU, fans, and radiator can’t balance heat flow correctly.

How it works

Inside is a wax‑pellet actuator linked to a spring‑loaded valve. When coolant reaches the rated temperature, the wax expands and opens the valve, diverting flow from the bypass to the radiator. At cold start, it stays shut to speed warm‑up and give quicker cabin heat. The gasket/O‑ring seals the housing to prevent leaks and air pockets.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

Stuck closed: rapid overheating, hard hoses, boiling coolant, risk of warped head or blown gasket. Stuck open: slow warm‑up, poor heater, high fuel use, rich mixture, P0128 code, carbon buildup. Leaks introduce air, causing hot spots and erratic temperature swings.

Tech tips

  • Always fit a new seal and match the original opening temperature.
  • Torque housing bolts evenly; do not overtighten.
  • Refill with correct coolant and bleed air thoroughly.
  • Check hoses, radiator cap, and fan operation after installation.
