Alternator Voltage Control Unit ⚡
This small but critical charging-system part keeps your vehicle’s electrical power stable while the engine runs. It is needed to protect the battery, alternator, lights, and ECU from voltage spikes or low charging. Without correct regulation, even a strong alternator can deliver the wrong output, leading to poor performance and shortened component life.
How it works ?
The unit monitors system voltage and adjusts alternator field current in real time. When demand rises (headlights, blower, wipers), it increases excitation to maintain proper charging. When the battery is full or engine speed is high, it reduces output to prevent overcharge. The result is steady voltage for reliable starting and clean power for sensitive electronics.
If it fails ?
A faulty regulator can cause undercharging (battery warning light, slow cranking, dim lights) or overcharging (boiling battery, burnt bulbs, damaged alternator diodes, erratic gauges). In severe cases the vehicle may stall once the battery drains, or electrical parts may fail from excess voltage.
