Manual transmission input shaft bearing for rugged Mitsubishi drivetrains
This precision bearing supports the gearbox input shaft (main driving shaft) so power from the engine enters the transmission smoothly. It keeps the shaft centered, reduces friction, and lets gears mesh quietly. Built for heavy loads and long trips, itβs a must-have for reliable 4x4 and pickup use .
Why you need it
Without a healthy input shaft bearing, the gear train loses alignment. That means noisy operation, heat build-up, and accelerated wear of gear teeth, synchros, and seals. A fresh, OE-spec unit restores quiet running, crisp shifting, and proper oil film control.
How it works βοΈ
Press-fitted into the transmission case, the bearing carries radial and axial loads from the input shaft as it spins. Hardened races and precision rollers/balls ride on a thin oil film supplied by the gearbox fluid, minimizing drag while holding exact shaft position under torque.
What if it fails
Expect a high-pitched whine that follows vehicle speed, shifter vibration, rough gear engagement, and glitter in the oil. Continued use can pit gear teeth, destroy synchros, blow the input seal, and ultimately seize the transmissionβleading to a full rebuild and tow truck.
