6th–7th Gear Synchronizer Ring for Mitsubishi Manual Gearbox ⚙️
This high-precision synchro ring (also called a baulk ring) restores smooth shifts into the overdrive gears on select Mitsubishi 6/7‑speed manual transmissions. It’s built to OEM spec for correct cone angle, tooth profile, and friction material, giving clean engagement at highway speeds and under load.
Why you need it
Over time the brass friction surface wears, heat glazing builds up, and clearances grow. That causes hard shifting into 6th or 7th, especially on cold starts or fast upshifts. Replacing the ring prevents grinding, protects the gearset, and keeps fuel‑saving overdrive usable.
How it works
The synchro ring mates to the gear cone, using friction to match shaft and gear speeds before the sleeve’s dog teeth lock in. Correct friction and indexing stop clash and allow the sleeve to slide in with a light, positive feel.
If it’s worn or broken ⚠️
Expect notchiness, crunch noise into 6th/7th, pop‑out under load, metal debris in oil, and accelerated wear of the hub, sleeve, and gear cone. Ignoring it can chip dog teeth and demand a full gearbox rebuild.
Fitment & tips ✅
For select Mitsubishi applications using a 6th–7th gear synchro pack. Always inspect cones, hub/sleeve, keys, and springs; replace as a set if pitted. Use correct GL‑4 oil, set end‑play, and perform careful break‑in for best shift quality.
