Cooling System Water Filler Cap Assembly for Mitsubishi

This cooling system filler cap assembly is a small but critical part that seals the radiator/expansion fill neck and keeps the coolant circuit working at the correct pressure. A healthy cap helps your Mitsubishi engine run at stable temperature, especially under load, in traffic, or hot weather ️.

Why this part is needed

The cooling system must hold pressure to raise the boiling point of coolant. This cap assembly also allows safe pressure relief and coolant recovery, preventing loss of fluid and reducing overheating risk.

How it works

Inside the cap are spring-loaded valves and a rubber seal. The pressure valve holds system pressure until a set limit, then releases excess pressure to the overflow line. When the engine cools down, the vacuum valve opens to pull coolant back, keeping hoses from collapsing .

What happens if it’s broken

A weak seal or stuck valve can cause coolant leaks, boiling, steam, overheating, poor heater performance, and swollen or collapsed hoses. Long-term driving may lead to warped head, blown gasket, or radiator damage .

Best practice

Replace the cap if you see cracks, hardened rubber, coolant smell, or frequent top-ups.
