Water Temperature Gauge Sender Unit ️

This cooling-system sensor is essential for keeping your engine safe from overheating. It measures coolant temperature and sends a signal to the dash gauge so you can see when the engine is warming up, working hard, or running too hot. A stable reading helps you drive correctly, protect the head gasket, and avoid expensive engine damage.

How It Works

Inside the unit is a heat-sensitive element (thermistor). As coolant temperature changes, the sensor’s resistance changes too. The vehicle’s gauge interprets that change and moves the needle accordingly. It reacts quickly to real temperature shifts in the cylinder head/water outlet area where heat builds first.

When It Fails

If the sensor is broken or inaccurate, the gauge may stay cold, spike suddenly, or fluctuate. That can hide real overheating, leading to warped cylinder heads, coolant boiling, poor heater performance, and even engine shutdown. In some cases it may also trigger warning lights or cause wrong fan control signals on certain setups.
