Engine Balance Shaft Retainer Plate οΈ
Keep your engine smooth and quiet with this precision balance shaft retainer plate. Designed for demanding daily use, it holds the balancer shaft in the correct axial position, sets end float, and keeps timing gear/chain alignment stable under load. Hardened wear surfaces and accurate machining help control oil flow around the shaft journal and reduce vibration at all RPMs.
Why you need it
Inline four engines create secondary vibrations. The balancer shaft cancels these forces, but only if it stays perfectly located. This plate locks the shaft, preserves thrust clearance, and protects bearings and seals for long service life.
How it works βοΈ
The plate bolts to the housing, acting as a thrust face for the shaft. It limits axial movement, maintains gear/chain mesh, and keeps the oil film stable. Correct torque and flatness ensure precise endplay.
What happens if it fails β οΈ
Expect strong cabin vibration, metallic rattle at idle, oil seepage, timing drift, and rapid bearing wear. In severe cases the shaft can βwalk,β damaging gears/belt and risking misfire or stalling.

Always check shaft endplay, renew bolts, use thread locker, inspect seal, and torque in sequence. Replace if scored, warped, or cracked.
