Crankshaft Oil Slinger Ring ?️

This small but critical engine ring is fitted near the crankshaft to control oil movement inside the front timing area. Its main job is to deflect and throw excess oil away from seals and rotating joints, keeping lubrication where it belongs and stopping messy leaks.

Why this part is needed

Modern engines spin fast, and oil can be pulled into places it should not be. The slinger acts like a rotating shield, helping the crankshaft seal and reducing oil mist build-up. βœ…

How it works

As the crankshaft rotates, the ring uses centrifugal force to fling oil back toward the sump and oil return paths. This supports stable lubrication, cleaner timing cover area, and better seal life.

What happens if it’s broken

A worn or cracked slinger can cause oil to reach the front seal and timing area too easily, leading to oil leaks, wet belts/covers, dirty engine bay, and faster seal failure. In severe cases you may notice oil loss and reduced engine reliability. ⚠️
