Rear Crankshaft Oil Slinger for Mitsubishi Engines ?
This compact steel disc sits at the back of the crankshaft and manages oil flow around the rear main seal. By throwing oil away from the seal and flywheel, it keeps the bellhousing dry, reduces leak risk, and extends seal life.
Why this part is needed
High RPM and crankcase splash push oil toward the rear of the engine. Without a slinger, oil overloads the seal, weeps at the bellhousing, and contaminates the clutch or flexplate. The slinger stabilizes oil control, lowers seal pressure, and routes oil back to the sump—ideal for daily use, towing, and off‑road angles.
How it works
Mounted behind the flywheel or flexplate, it spins with the crank. Centrifugal force flings oil outward into return passages while the rim shields the seal lip from debris. Hardened steel construction resists heat and wear for long service.
What happens if it’s broken ❗
Cracked, bent, or missing slinger causes oil leaks at the bellhousing, clutch slip, burnt oil smell, smoke on hot runs, and falling oil level. The rear main seal may tear, coating the flywheel and starter. Long term, low oil can damage bearings and turbo, and oil burn can hurt the catalytic converter.
Fitment and tips ?
Replace whenever the rear seal or clutch is serviced. Check crank surface and runout. Install clean and square; never pry on the rim. Use a fresh rear main seal, correct torque, and thread sealer on flywheel bolts if specified. Perfect for OE‑grade leak prevention on many Mitsubishi engines.
