Timing Gear Case Oil Seal for Mitsubishi Engines
This engine oil seal is fitted at the timing gear case area to stop oil escaping where a rotating shaft passes through the cover. Itβs a small part, but it protects the whole front side of the engine from messy leaks and oil loss β .
Why This Seal Is Needed
The timing gear case sits close to moving gears and a constantly spinning shaft. Without a tight seal, engine oil can creep out under pressure and splash, reducing lubrication where itβs most needed. A fresh seal keeps oil inside and dirt outside ?οΈ.
How It Works
Inside the seal is a flexible sealing lip that rides on the shaft surface. A spring ring holds steady tension, so the lip stays tight even when the engine heats up and cools down. The outer shell locks firmly into the case bore for a secure fit ?.
If the Seal Is Worn or Broken
A damaged seal usually causes oil dripping at the front of the engine, oily timing cover, burning oil smell, and low oil level. If ignored, oil starvation can lead to noisy timing gears, fast wear, overheating, or serious engine damage β οΈ.
