Engine Block Support Bushing β OEM Ref: ME011979 ?
This precision bushing supports a rotating shaft inside the cylinder blockβoften a balance shaft, oil pump drive, or intermediate shaft. It keeps the shaft perfectly centered, maintains oil film, and prevents metal-to-metal contact. Designed for long life and stable alignment in demanding engine temperatures.
Why this part is needed β
Without a stable support point, shafts wobble and wear fast. A quality engine block bushing ensures smooth rotation, quiet operation, and correct timing of driven components. It protects the block bore and extends the life of adjoining parts.
How it works βοΈ
Pressed into the block with an interference fit, the bushing presents a precision inner diameter. Engine oil feeds through grooves to create a hydrodynamic film. This film carries the load, cuts friction, and keeps temperatures in check.
What happens if itβs damaged β
Symptoms include cold-start rattle, rising oil temps, metal shavings in oil, low oil pressure, shaft misalignment, and eventual seizure. Left ignored, it can score the block, ruin the shaft journal, and trigger catastrophic engine failure.
Build, fitment, and tips ?οΈ
Made from high-grade bronze/steel-backed material for strength and wear resistance. Fits select Mitsubishi engines (check OEM ref: ME011979). Always measure block bore and shaft, align oil feed holes, and lubricate during install. Replace in pairs when servicing matched shafts.
