Automatic transmission oil filter assembly for Mitsubishi βοΈ
Why you need it
This filter keeps ATF clean, protecting the valve body, solenoids, and pump from metal dust and clutch fiber. Clean fluid means smooth shifts, stable pressure, lower heat, and longer gearbox life. Replacing a tired filter is cheap insurance against costly overhauls.
How it works οΈ
Mounted in the transmission sump, it draws ATF through a fine media and screen, sealing to the pickup with an Oβring. The pump then feeds filtered fluid to the hydraulic circuits and torque converter. Correct flow keeps clutches applied firmly and gears engaging on time.
If itβs clogged or damaged β
Expect delayed engagement, flare between shifts, harsh or slipping shifts, pump whine, overheating, and debris in the pan. Prolonged use can burn clutches and trigger limp mode, ending in full rebuild.
Tech tips
Replace with pan service, renew gasket and Oβring, use the specified ATF (e.g., SPβIII/SPβIV), clean the magnets, and torque fasteners evenly.
