βοΈ Crankshaft Timing Sprocket for Mitsubishi Engines
This OEM-grade gear keeps the crank and cam in perfect sync, delivering smooth idle, strong torque, and good fuel economy. Precision teeth drive the timing belt with zero slip, while a tight keyway locks to the crank for accurate indexing. Direct-fit replacement (ref. MD375932) for reliable cam drive performance.
Why you need it
With mileage, teeth can polish or chip, the bore and keyway may wear, and timing marks fade. A fresh sprocket restores exact valve timing, reduces belt noise, and protects the new belt and tensioner during scheduled timing service.
How it works
The crank turns the sprocket; the timing belt rides its tooth profile and transfers motion to the camshaft(s). Alignment marks set TDC during assembly. Hardened steel and correct pitch keep timing precise under heat and load, preventing drift.
What happens if itβs damaged β
Expect hard starts or no-start, rough idle, loss of power, poor economy, and possible misfire/CEL. Severe wear can let the belt jump teeth, leading to out-of-sync valves. On interference engines this can bend valves and cause costly head repairs.
Installer notes οΈ
Inspect crank key and seal, clean mating surfaces, align timing marks, set belt tension correctly, and use a new bolt with proper torque. Keep oil off the belt and rotate the engine by hand two turns to recheck marks.
