Hollow Coolant Banjo Bolt

This precision hollow bolt secures a banjo fitting in the engine cooling system. It routes coolant to auxiliary lines (heater, throttle body, EGR cooler, or turbo) and seals the joint under pressure. Proper flow and sealing keep temperatures stable and the system leak‑free.

Why it’s needed ❄️

The cooling circuit relies on a metered path. The correct banjo bolt maintains factory coolant routing, speeds warm‑up, prevents hot spots, and protects components during towing, off‑road, and city traffic.

How it works

Coolant travels through the bolt’s cross‑drilled eye and hollow shank into the banjo. Soft copper/aluminum crush washers on both sides deform when torqued, forming a reliable metal seal. The calibrated orifice also helps bleed air and control flow rate.

What happens if it’s damaged ⚠️

Corrosion, clogged drilling, stretched threads, or reusing washers cause leaks and air ingestion. Symptoms: sweet smell, white steam, colored crust near the joint, poor cabin heat, rising temps, and dropping coolant level. Prolonged use risks overheating, warped head, or turbo bearing wear.

Tech notes

Replace crush washers every service, clean sealing faces, and torque to spec—no sealant. Use the correct coolant mix to fight corrosion and ensure long life.
