Camshaft Position Sensor for Precise Timing ⚙️
Why this part is needed
Keep your Mitsubishi SUV or pickup running smooth with a fresh camshaft position sensor. It tells the ECU the exact cam angle so fuel injection and ignition fire at the right moment. Accurate phase timing delivers quick starts, stable idle, strong torque, and cleaner emissions.
How it works
Mounted on the cylinder head, the sensor faces a cam trigger wheel. A Hall-effect core detects tooth edges and outputs a crisp square-wave signal. The ECU matches this to the crankshaft signal to control sequential injection, ignition timing, and VVT—especially vital at low RPM and during warm starts.
What happens if it’s faulty ⚠️
Heat, oil vapors, and vibration can weaken the signal or kill it. Symptoms include long cranking, random stalling, rough idle, misfire, flat spots, poor fuel economy, and a check engine light. In severe cases the engine won’t start or drops into limp mode.
Tech tips ✅
Replace the O-ring, clean the mounting seat, check connector pins and harness routing, and torque the hold-down bolt correctly. Clear fault codes after installation for best results.
