How It Works ⚙️
Inside the hub is a silicone fluid and a heat-sensitive valve. When the air behind the radiator gets hot, the valve opens and the clutch tightens, making the fan spin faster. When temperature drops, it releases and the fan slows down. This gives strong cooling only when needed, reducing noise and saving engine power.
When It Fails ?
If the clutch slips, the fan won’t pull enough air and the engine may run hot at idle. If it locks up, the fan stays loud, fuel economy drops, and extra load can damage the water pump bearing. Leaking fluid, wobble, or overheating are common warning signs.
