Engine Coolant Pump Inlet Tube

This precision-formed inlet tube is a key link in the cooling circuit. It guides coolant from the lower radiator hose into the water pump, keeping the engine at a stable operating temperature. A correct, leak-free inlet preserves pressure, prevents hot spots, and protects the head gasket and pump bearings.

Why it’s needed ❄️

Heavy SUVs work hard—towing, off‑road, city heat. This tube maintains steady flow into the pump, with a smooth inner passage and a tight O‑ring seal. Its corrosion‑resistant finish fights rust from moisture and road salts.

How it works

Mounted on the pump housing, the tube sits under pump suction. Coolant passes through the tube, into the impeller, and onward through the block and heater core. A bracket holds alignment; the bead and O‑ring prevent seepage at the hose connection.

If it fails ⚠️

Cracks, pinholes, or rust at the bead cause leaks, low coolant, and air ingestion. Symptoms include sweet odor, white crust at joints, puddles, weak cabin heat, and overheating in traffic. Left unchecked, you risk warped heads and pump cavitation.

Replacement tips ️

Replace the O‑ring, clean mating surfaces, apply a light coolant‑safe lube to the seal, torque bolts evenly, and align the bracket. Refill with correct premix and bleed air thoroughly.
