Fuel Delivery Pressure Regulator for Mitsubishi MPI Systems βοΈ
This component is needed to keep the fuel pressure stable in the multi-point injection (MPI) rail. Injectors must receive fuel at the correct pressure to spray a fine mist and keep the air/fuel mix accurate. Without proper regulation, the engine control system struggles to maintain smooth power and clean combustion.
How It Works
Inside the regulator is a spring-loaded valve and diaphragm. It reacts to fuel rail pressure and intake vacuum, bleeding excess fuel back to the return line (or controlling flow, depending on setup). This keeps pressure consistent during idle, cruise, and acceleration, helping cold starts, throttle response, and fuel economy.
What Happens If It Fails
A weak or stuck regulator can cause hard starting, rough idle, hesitation, loss of power, black smoke, fuel smell, or higher fuel use. If it leaks internally, fuel may enter the vacuum line, leading to rich running and possible catalytic converter damage. Low pressure can also create lean misfire and overheating under load.
