It seals the combustion chamber, controls oil on the cylinder walls, and carries heat from the piston to the liner. Fitting new rings is the quickest way to revive a tired motor, improve fuel economy, and stop smoky exhaust .
How it works οΈ
The upper compression rings create a gas-tight seal as pressure pushes them outward against the bore. The oil control ring (with expander) meters a thin oil film, scraping excess back to the sump. Correct tension, moly-faced surfaces, and true ring gaps keep the seal stable across temperature and load.
