Cylinder Head Coolant Joint
This compact engine fitting seals the coolant outlet on the cylinder head and guides coolant toward the hose/thermostat housing. It is needed to keep the cooling system closed, pressurized, and clean. With a tight seal, the engine warms up evenly, sensors read correctly, and the radiator gets steady flow. Result: stable temperature, longer engine life, and no messy leaks .
How it works οΈ
The joint bolts directly to the head. A precision seat and an O-ring or flat gasket create a leak-proof path. Hot coolant exits the head through this connector, then flows to the radiator. Quality metal resists heat cycles, vibration, and corrosion, so the seal stays firm under pressure.
What happens if it breaks β οΈ
Cracks, warped flanges, or a hardened seal cause coolant loss and air entry. You may see drips, white crust, or smell sweet antifreeze. The temp gauge climbs, the heater turns weak, and the engine can overheat. Continued driving risks head-gasket damage and costly repairs.
Tech notes
Always renew the seal, clean mating surfaces, torque evenly, and bleed the cooling system. Use the correct coolant mix to prevent corrosion and scale.
