Inlet Manifold Sealing Gasket
This sealing gasket sits between the intake (inlet) manifold and the engine head. Its job is simple but critical: keep air and vacuum where they belong so the engine can breathe correctly. A healthy seal helps stable idle, smooth acceleration, and correct fuel mixture control β
Why this part is needed
The intake manifold carries air (and on some engines, air-fuel mix) into each cylinder. The gasket fills tiny surface imperfections and prevents leaks caused by heat cycles, vibration, and bolt tension changes over time.
How it works
When the manifold is tightened down, the gasket compresses to form a tight barrier around ports and vacuum passages. This keeps the ECU readings accurate and supports proper combustion efficiency ?
What happens if itβs damaged
A cracked or flattened gasket can create a vacuum leak. Common results include rough idle, hesitation, high fuel use, whistling sound, misfire codes, and even overheating from a lean mixture. Left too long, it may stress valves and catalytic components β οΈ
