Fuel Pump Assembly for Mitsubishi
This in-tank pump unit is the heart of the fuel supply system. Its job is to pull fuel from the tank and deliver it to the engine at the correct pressure, so injectors (or the carb feed on older setups) can meter fuel accurately. Why this part is needed
Engines can’t “sip” fuel on their own. They need a steady, pressurized flow to match load changes—cold starts, uphill pulls, towing, and quick throttle inputs. This assembly keeps fuel moving and helps prevent vapor bubbles that can cause hesitation.
How it works
An electric motor spins an internal turbine/gear set, creating suction at the inlet and pressure at the outlet. Fuel also cools and lubricates the pump while it runs. The system relies on consistent voltage and clean fuel for long service life .
What happens if it fails
A weak or dead pump can cause hard starting, stalling after a few minutes, loss of power at high RPM, surging, and lean misfires. In severe cases the engine won’t start at all, and running lean may overheat valves or damage the catalytic converter.
