MD134377 Timing Belt for Mitsubishi Engines

Why you need it

This camshaft drive belt keeps the crankshaft and camshaft perfectly synchronized. Correct valve timing means smooth starts, strong torque, clean emissions, and good fuel economy. A fresh belt protects your engine from costly valve‑to‑piston contact on interference designs. ⏱️

How it works

The toothed belt, built from heat‑resistant HNBR with high‑tensile cords, runs on the crank sprocket and turns the cam(s) at half speed. It works with a tensioner and idlers to maintain precise mesh and prevents slip under load. Low‑friction fabric reduces noise and wear for stable timing across temperatures.

Symptoms and risks if worn or broken

Watch for cracks, missing teeth, glazing, oil swelling, chirps, hard starts, misfire, rough idle, or loss of power. If the belt jumps a tooth, timing drifts; if it snaps, the engine stops instantly and may bend valves, mark pistons, or break rockers. Replace on schedule or sooner if oil leaks contaminate the belt. ⚠️
