    Engine Block Oil Cooling Nozzle (Piston Oil Jet) ?️

    This small but critical nozzle sits inside the cylinder block and sprays a focused stream of oil under the piston. It’s needed to control piston temperature, reduce friction on the skirt and rings, and keep the engine stable during high load, long drives, or hot weather. When oil is aimed correctly, the piston crown stays cooler, the oil film stays strong, and bearing wear drops.

    How it works ⚙️

    Pressurized oil from the main gallery feeds the jet. A calibrated orifice (and on some versions a check valve) meters the flow and directs it upward to the underside of the piston. This targeted lubrication also helps cool the cylinder area and supports smoother combustion by limiting heat soak.

    If it fails or clogs ?

    A blocked or broken jet can starve the piston of cooling oil. Results may include piston scuffing, noisy operation, rising oil temperature, ring sticking, loss of compression, and in severe cases piston seizure or hole damage. If the jet leaks or snaps, oil pressure can drop, risking crankshaft and cam bearing failure.
