Radiator Expansion Tank Assembly
This coolant reservoir keeps your engine’s temperature under control by managing thermal expansion and returning fluid as it cools. It stabilizes system pressure, prevents air pockets, and protects the radiator, hoses, and water pump during daily driving and heavy loads.
Why this part is needed ❄️
Heat cycles and vibration make old plastic tanks brittle. A healthy reservoir holds extra coolant, maintains pressure, and keeps the radiator full. Replace at the first signs of cracks, white crust, fuel-like smells, or a loose cap to avoid overheating.
How it works ♨️
As coolant heats, it expands and flows into the tank through the overflow hose. The cap’s rated spring holds pressure; when the engine cools, vacuum draws coolant back, keeping the core topped up. A translucent body shows MIN/MAX, while molded ports and grommets seal tight.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Leaks drop fluid level, cause steam, and spike temperatures. Prolonged overheating can warp the head, blow the gasket, wear the pump, and weaken hoses. Symptoms include fluctuating gauge, low heater output, and sweet odor.
Install tips
Bolt-on fit. Transfer any level sensor, swap hoses, and use a fresh cap. Refill with the correct coolant mix, bleed air, and pressure-test. ✅
