Engine Coolant Temperature Switch οΈ
This electrical coolant temperature switch is a small but vital sensor-style switch that helps your vehicle control temperature-based functions. It is needed to let the car βknowβ when coolant reaches a set heat point, so cooling fans, warning circuits, or ECU-related strategies can react at the right time. Without this signal, the engine may run hotter than intended or behave inconsistently in traffic and heavy load.
How It Works
Mounted in a coolant passage, the switch is exposed directly to engine coolant. As temperature rises, an internal thermal element changes state and opens/closes the circuit. That simple on/off action triggers the fan relay, dash warning, or management input (depending on model wiring). Itβs designed for fast response and stable switching to prevent overheating spikes.
When It Fails
