Rear Stabilizer Bar Bushing for Mitsubishi 4x4
This suspension bushing is a small but critical rubber mount that holds the rear stabilizer (sway) bar firmly to the chassis. It is needed to keep the bar centered, reduce vibration, and maintain stable handling when cornering, braking, or driving on uneven roads.
How It Works βοΈ
The bushing wraps around the stabilizer bar and sits inside a clamp. It allows the bar to twist smoothly while isolating noise and harshness. Good bushings help the stabilizer bar transfer load from one side of the suspension to the other, limiting body roll and keeping tires planted.
What Happens If Itβs Worn or Broken β
When the bushing cracks, hardens, or loosens, the bar starts to shift and knock. You may notice clunking from the rear, vague steering feel, extra body roll, and uneven tire wear over time. Ignoring it can stress links and brackets, making the repair bigger and more expensive.
Common Symptoms οΈ
- Rear clunk/knock over bumps
- More sway in corners
- Squeaks in wet or dusty conditions
- Loose stabilizer bar movement
