If it fails
Watch for high temp warnings, weak cabin heat at idle, buzzing or grinding noises, or coolant seepage near the pump. Hybrids may trigger DTCs and enter limp mode. Continued driving can warp the head, blow the gasket, or damage the catalyst. Replace at the first signs to avoid costly repairs.
