Rear Drum Brake Shoe Kit β
This rear brake shoe kit is a key service part for drum brake systems. Itβs needed when braking feels weak, the handbrake travel gets longer, or you hear scraping from the rear wheels. Fresh shoes restore safe stopping power and keep the drum surface from wearing unevenly.
How It Works ?
When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure pushes the wheel cylinder outward. The shoes expand and press their friction lining against the inside of the brake drum. That friction slows the wheel smoothly. Many setups also self-adjust, keeping shoe-to-drum clearance correct as the lining wears.
What Happens If Itβs Worn or Broken β οΈ
Bad shoes can cause longer stopping distances, vibration, pulling, overheating, and poor parking brake hold. If the lining separates or wears to metal, it can score the drum, create brake fade, and lead to costly drum replacement.
Best Practice ?οΈ
Always inspect drums, wheel cylinders, springs, and adjusters during installation to prevent noise and uneven braking.
