Front wheel speed sensor for ABS/ESP control ⚙️

Why you need it
During hard braking or on slippery roads, ABS and ESP need exact wheel speed. This sensor helps prevent wheel lock, reduces stopping distance, stabilizes cornering, and enables cruise control, hill-start assist, and start/stop logic.
How it works
A Hall-effect element reads the magnetic encoder ring in the wheel bearing. It produces a clean square-wave signal proportional to wheel RPM. The ECU compares all wheels in real time and modulates brake pressure or engine torque to keep grip.
What happens if it fails
ABS/ESP/4MATIC lights turn on, traction control and cruise may stop, speedometer can drop or flicker, gearbox may shift harshly, and stopping distance increases on wet roads. Common causes are cable chafe, corrosion at the mounting seat, or metallic debris on the tip.
Tech tips for install
Soak the old sensor, remove the retaining bolt, and pull straight out. Clean the bore; do not scratch the encoder ring. Route the harness in original clips, avoid driveshaft contact, and torque the screw to spec. Clear fault codes and road-test.
