Ambient Air Temperature Sender for Mercedes-Benz ️

Why this part is needed

This small sensor feeds outside air temperature to the engine ECU and climate control. Accurate data helps with cold-start fueling, AC compressor logic, fan speed, start/stop strategy, and even shift mapping. Without a healthy reading, comfort and efficiency suffer, especially in quick weather changes ❄️.

How it works

Inside is a fast NTC thermistor. As ambient temperature changes, its resistance shifts. The control units read the voltage signal and adjust fuel trim, radiator fan, intake flaps, and AC blend doors. It’s a sealed, plug-and-play 2‑pin unit that clips behind the grille for true outside air sampling.

What happens if it’s faulty

Expect wrong dash temperature, AC blowing too hot/cold, high or constantly running fans, rich mixture, poor MPG, hard cold starts, and possible warning messages ⚠️. In some cases the AC compressor may be inhibited to protect the system.

Tech notes & install tips

Located low in the front bumper/grille area. Disconnect battery, unclip old sensor, swap over, reconnect, and drive; most cars auto-calibrate. Use dielectric grease on connector and keep the probe unobstructed by trims.
