Transmission Bellhousing Inspection Cover for Mercedes 4MATIC SUVs/MPVs ?οΈ
This OEM-spec cover protects the lower opening of the gearbox bellhousing. It shields the torque converter, flexplate/ring gear, and starter interface from water, dust, gravel, and road salt. By closing this cavity, it also helps reduce transmission noise and keeps service access clean for future maintenance.
Why this part is needed ?
Mercedes automatic units (5/7βspeed) rely on a clean, sealed bellhousing. This cover prevents debris ingress that can cause corrosion, abnormal wear, and contamination of the converter area. It is a small but critical sealing plate for drivetrain longevity.
How it works βοΈ
The cover sits at the service opening of the bellhousing and locks into the housing with factory fasteners. A formed lip and gasket edge act as a dust and splash barrier while allowing quick removal for converter bolt access during service.
If the cover is cracked or missing ?
You may hear rattles/whistle, see dirt build-up near the starter, experience moisture ingress, rust on the ring gear, hard starting, and accelerated wear of converter/flexplate. In extreme cases, debris can damage the front seal, leading to ATF leaks.
Install notes β
Clean the mating surface, check the rubber edge, reuse or replace screws as required, and tighten to factory spec. No coding or adaptation needed.
