    Front Lid Gas Support Strut for Porsche

    This gas-charged support strut is fitted to the front luggage lid (bonnet/frunk) to hold it safely open while you load, check fluids, or access service panels. Technicians like it because it keeps the lid stable without props, reducing the risk of paint chips and bent hinges.

    Why this part is needed

    The front lid is heavier than it feels, and Porsche hinge geometry needs controlled assistance. The strut provides lifting force and smooth damping so the lid opens easily and stays at a safe height.

    How it works

    Inside the cylinder, pressurized gas pushes a piston rod outward. As the lid moves, internal valving controls speed to prevent sudden drop or slam. End fittings lock onto mounting balls/pins for quick, secure installation.

    What happens if it’s worn or broken

    Weak struts won’t hold the lid up, causing it to fall unexpectedly ⚠️. You may notice slow sinking, squeaks, uneven lifting, or the lid needing extra force to open. If ignored, it can damage hinges, trim, and even injure hands or head.
