Cabin A/C Evaporator Core βοΈ for Tucson
This HVAC core chills and dehumidifies the air you breathe. You need it to keep the cabin cool in summer, clear misty windows, and maintain stable comfort on long trips. Built for OE-style fit, it nests inside the heater/AC case with tight seals, preventing refrigerant and airflow losses while delivering strong, even cooling.
How it works
Liquid refrigerant reaches the core after the expansion valve. Inside slim aluminum tubes and dense fins, it boils and absorbs heat. The blower moves warm cabin air across the fins; heat leaves with the refrigerant and moisture condenses on the surface, draining through the evap tube. Proper fin density means quick pull-down, low compressor load, and quiet operation.
When it fails β οΈ
Typical signs: weak cooling, foggy glass, musty or sweet smell, oily traces at joints, hissing after shut-off, or damp carpet from corrosion. A clogged or leaking core forces the compressor to work harder, raises system pressures, increases fuel use, and can destroy the compressor if ignored.
Tech tips
Always replace O-rings, evacuate, add correct PAG oil, vacuum and recharge to spec (Rβ134a or Rβ1234yf as equipped). Install a fresh cabin filter and verify the drain is clear to prevent icing and odors.
