Airbag Control Computer (SRS) ??️
This safety module is the “brain” of the SRS system. It is needed to decide when to deploy airbags and tighten seat belts during a crash. Without a healthy unit, the car may not protect passengers as designed, even if the airbags and sensors are new.
How It Works ⚙️
The module receives signals from impact sensors and internal accelerometers. It constantly checks vehicle deceleration, seat belt pretensioner circuits, and airbag igniters. When the data matches a calibrated crash threshold, it instantly triggers deployment and stores crash data for diagnostics.
What Happens If It’s Broken ❌
A faulty unit can cause the airbag warning light to stay on, disable the whole SRS system, or create false fault codes. In rare cases, wiring or internal damage may lead to non-deployment in a real collision. After a previous deployment, many modules lock and must be replaced or professionally reset.
