Body Mount Insulator – 5th Position

This heavy‑duty body mount insulator cushions the vehicle body from the ladder frame at the 5th mounting point. Built with resilient rubber bonded to steel sleeves, it restores factory ride comfort and keeps the cabin isolated from road buzz, frame twist, and drivetrain vibration. Ideal for tough terrain and daily use, it’s a direct-fit solution for classic body-on-frame SUVs.

Why this part is needed ️

Without a healthy body mount, noise, vibration, and harshness increase. Panel gaps shift, doors may not close cleanly, and the body can sit uneven on the frame. Replacing a tired insulator protects the chassis, improves comfort, and preserves alignment of body panels and steering geometry.

How it works

The mount acts like a rubber sandwich: a central sleeve guides the bolt, upper and lower cushions absorb shock, and cupped washers distribute load. Under bumps and torsion, the rubber flexes, isolating the body from frame movement while keeping the two securely clamped at the correct height.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

  • Clunks over bumps and a shaky cabin
  • Increased road noise and steering shimmy
  • Misaligned doors and uneven body-to-frame gaps
  • Premature wear on adjacent mounts and brackets
  • Risk of bolt play and metal-to-metal contact

Tech notes

  • Replace in pairs on the same crossmember for balance
  • Support body with a jack and wood block; never over-compress
  • Tighten to spec, then re-torque after 100–200 km
  • Inspect bolts, sleeves, and washers; replace if corroded
