Steering Wheel Clock Spring Contact Unit
This spiral cable connects steering wheel buttons, horn, and driver airbag to the vehicle harness while the wheel turns 360°. It keeps power and signals flowing without twisting wires. Built to OE layout for Hyundai/Kia (ref 93490-2P170), it restores factory safety and comfort functions.
Why you need it
It is critical for SRS airbag deployment, horn operation, and steering wheel controls (audio, phone, cruise). A worn or cracked ribbon can interrupt these circuits and trigger warnings.
How it works
Inside the housing is a flat ribbon cable wound like a clock spring. As you turn the wheel, the ribbon winds/unwinds but keeps stable electrical contact. Indexed alignment marks keep the cable centered to prevent over-travel.
What happens if it breaks
SRS light on, horn inoperative, dead buttons, intermittent chime, or noise from the column. In severe cases the airbag may not deploy. Do not ignore SRS faults ⚠️. Replace the unit and clear codes with a scan tool.
Fitment & install tips
Direct-fit. Disconnect battery 10+ minutes, center wheels, remove airbag carefully, set the new unit to center, install, torque fasteners, then perform SRS reset.
