Crankshaft Position Sensor for Toyota Engines

This small but vital sensor feeds the ECU live crank angle and rpm data so timing stays exact. Itโ€™s built to OE-grade standards, sealed against oil splash and high under-hood heat for long life.

Why you need it

Accurate timing equals clean starts, smooth idle, strong acceleration, and good fuel economy. When the signal is weak or missing, the ECU cannot sync spark and injection, causing hard starts and poor driveability. Replacing a tired unit restores proper engine management and reduces emissions.

How it works โš™๏ธ

A magnetic core with a coil (or a Hall IC) โ€œreadsโ€ the toothed reluctor on the crank. As each tooth passes, it creates a precise waveform. The ECU counts pulses to find TDC, calculates rpm, and aligns fuel and ignition. Shielded wiring keeps noise out; a correct air gap ensures a crisp signal.

Symptoms of failure โš ๏ธ

  • Long crank or no start, especially when hot
  • Random stall, tach drops to zero
  • Misfire, rough idle, limp mode
  • Check Engine with P0335โ€“P0339

What happens if itโ€™s broken

The engine may crank without firing, cut out while driving, waste fuel, and overheat the catalyst from unburned mixture. Prolonged driving can damage plugs and exhaust components.

Fitment and tips

Match connector and mounting tab to your Toyota. Install with a fresh O-ring, clean the bore, and route the loom away from exhaust heat. Verify air gap, clear codes, and perform an idle relearn after replacement.
