Front Lateral Control Rod Bushing β Tight Steering & Stable Axle
This rubber-metal bushing is a small part with a big job: it keeps the front lateral control rod firmly located while still allowing controlled movement. Itβs needed to hold axle alignment, reduce vibration, and keep the steering feel solid on rough roads and off-road tracks.
How It Works
The bushing sits between the rod and its mounting point. The rubber layer flexes to absorb shocks, while the inner sleeve keeps the bolt clamped tight. This design prevents metal-to-metal contact, cuts noise, and helps the suspension track straight under braking and cornering.
When Itβs Worn or Broken β οΈ
A damaged bushing lets the rod shift too much. You may notice clunking over bumps, wandering steering, uneven tire wear, and poor stability at speed. In severe cases it can throw off front-end geometry, stressing other suspension parts and making the vehicle feel unsafe.
