Front Transaxle Case Oil Seal β Leak Protection for Your Driveline βοΈ
Why you need it
This precision seal keeps transmission fluid inside the front transaxle and blocks dust, water, and road grit. Without a healthy seal, lubrication fails, heat rises, and bearings, gears, and clutches wear fast. Itβs a small part that protects the whole unit οΈ.
How it works
A steel-backed ring with an NBR/FKM lip and a garter spring hugs the rotating surface at the case cover. Micro ribs return oil inward while the spring maintains constant edge pressure. Proper press-fit in the cover ensures a tight, concentric barrier so ATF stays where it belongs .
When itβs worn or broken
Look for wetness around the case cover, drops on the splash shield, burnt-ATF smell, slipping shifts, whining on acceleration, or vibration. Continued driving risks low-fluid damage, overheated clutches, pitted bearings, and costly differential or gearbox failure β οΈ.
Tech notes for install
Clean bore and shaft, lightly oil the lip, seat square and flush, avoid cocking, verify venting, and refill with the correct ATF. Inspect the shaft for grooves; use a sleeve if needed.
