Seat Occupancy Detection ECU for Toyota SRS Airbag System ?

This smart control unit manages the passenger seat detection in your Toyota. It decides if the airbag should arm, and when the seatbelt reminder should sound. You need it to keep the SRS system accurate, pass inspections, and protect your passengers ?️.

Why it is needed

Modern airbags must know if a person is in the seat and how heavy they are. The ECU reads the seat sensor, classifies the occupant, and tells the airbag controller to enable, disable, or limit deployment. It prevents costly false alarms and unsafe deployments.

How it works

Under the seat is a weight mat or pressure sensor. Signals go to this module. The module runs self‑tests at key‑on, stores calibration, and communicates on the CAN line to the SRS. If values are correct, it clears the airbag light and sets passenger status.

What happens if it is broken ⚠️

Airbag light stays on, passenger airbag may turn off, the chime may sound, and scan tools show OCS/OCS ECU codes. Misclassification can cause non‑deployment in a crash or unwanted deployment. The car may fail inspection.

Replacement tips

Use OEM. Disconnect battery 10 minutes before work. Check seat wiring and connectors. After install, perform zero‑point calibration with a capable scan tool. Do not fold or pinch the seat mat.
