Left Side Airbag Impact Sensor (LH) β
This safety sensor is a key part of the SRS airbag system. It is needed to detect a side collision quickly and help the car decide when to deploy the side airbag. Without a healthy sensor, the protection timing can be wrong β and in airbags, timing is everything.
How It Works βοΈ
Mounted on the left-hand side area of the vehicle body, the sensor monitors sudden acceleration and shock patterns. When impact values match a real side crash, it sends a fast signal to the airbag control unit. The module then triggers the side airbag inflator within milliseconds to reduce injury risk.
Signs of a Faulty Sensor ?
- SRS/Airbag warning light stays on
- Stored crash or sensor fault codes during Π΄ΠΈΠ°Π³Π½ΠΎΡΡΠΈΠΊΠ°
- Airbag system may disable itself for safety
What Happens If Itβs Broken β
If this sensor fails, the side airbag may not deploy in a real accident, or the system may block deployment to avoid unintended activation. In some cases, false readings can cause warning lights, failed inspections, and a non-functional restraint system until repaired.
