Engine Control Computer for Toyota
This electronic control unit (ECU) is the βbrainβ of the engine system. It is needed to keep fuel, ignition timing, idle speed, and emissions working together smoothly βοΈ. Without a healthy controller, the engine cannot react correctly to load, temperature, or throttle changes.
How It Works
The module reads signals from key sensors like crankshaft position, camshaft position, airflow/MAP, oxygen sensors, coolant temperature, and throttle position. Using programmed maps, it calculates injector pulse width and spark timing, then commands actuators such as injectors, ignition coils, idle control, and sometimes the cooling fan. It also stores fault codes and supports diagnostics via the OBD system ?.
Why Replacement May Be Needed
Heat, vibration, water intrusion, jump-start spikes, or poor grounding can damage internal circuits. Corrosion in plugs or broken solder joints can also cause random faults.
