Rear Left ABS Wheel Speed Sensor for Toyota Hilux
This sensor feeds the ABS, traction control, and stability programs with precise wheel speed data. It helps the Hilux stop straight, keep grip on wet roads, and avoid rear-end lockup when braking. If you tow, haul, or drive off‑road, this small part protects tires and brakes while keeping the truck predictable and safe.
How it works ⚙️
Mounted at the left rear hub/axle, the sensor reads a toothed ring (tone ring) as the wheel turns. A Hall‑effect core generates clean electrical pulses that the ECU interprets as exact wheel speed. The sealed connector and cable carry the signal to the ABS module. Correct gap, clean ring, and firm bracket are key for accurate readings.
What happens if it fails ❗
Warning lamps (ABS/Slip) turn on, ABS and traction control switch off, and stopping distances grow on wet or gravel. You may feel rear wheel lock, pulsing brakes, or erratic speed display at low speed. Fault codes for rear left speed circuit often appear. Prolonged driving can cause uneven pad wear and rotor hot spots.
Tech notes and install tips ️
Direct‑fit, plug‑and‑play. Clean the tone ring, seat the O‑ring, route the loom away from the tire and leaf spring, and torque the bracket. After install, clear stored codes and road‑test. If rust or mud is present, service the hub before fitting to ensure a stable gap.
