Front Right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor ?

Why you need it

This sensor feeds precise wheel-speed data to the ABS, traction control, and vehicle stability systems. With accurate signals, the car brakes straight, prevents lock-up on wet roads, and keeps traction smooth on takeoff. It is a critical safety part that also supports modern driver aids and gearbox logic.

How it works

A magnetic pickup reads an encoder ring at the hub. As the wheel turns, the sensor produces a clean digital pulse train. The ABS ECU counts these pulses to know wheel speed in real time. Proper air gap, firm mounting, and a clean tone ring are essential for a stable signal. The sealed connector and harness carry data reliably to the module.

What happens if it fails

Warning lamps for ABS/traction may light up, stability control can switch off, and stopping distance can grow on slippery roads. You may feel erratic ABS activation, see a shaky speed reading at low speed, or notice harsh gear shifts. Fault codes typically point to the front right channel. Damage often comes from corrosion, road debris, or stretched wiring during suspension work.

Install tips ?

Disconnect battery, lift safely, remove the wheel if needed, then unbolt the sensor. Clean the bore and encoder surface, seat the new unit fully, route the cable in factory clips, and torque to spec. Avoid metal shavings on the tip; use dielectric grease on the connector.
