Front Right Wheel Speed Sensor

The wheel speed sensor is a crucial component in your vehicle's anti-lock braking system (ABS). It ensures safer driving by monitoring the rotational speed of the wheels and transmitting this data to the ABS control unit. This information is vital for preventing wheel lockup during abrupt braking, maintaining vehicle control and stability.

Why You Need This Part

This sensor is essential for your vehicle's safety features. It enables the ABS to adjust the braking force applied to each wheel, thus optimizing stopping power and minimizing skidding. In addition, it supports the vehicle's traction control system, providing better handling and performance on slippery surfaces.

How It Works

Located on the front right side of the vehicle, this sensor measures the rotation speed of the wheel. It generates an electrical signal proportional to the wheel's speed, which is then sent to the ABS control unit. Upon receiving these signals, the ABS modulates brake pressure, ensuring maximum grip and control.

Consequences of a Broken Sensor

If the sensor becomes damaged or malfunctions, the ABS system will be compromised. You may notice the ABS warning light illuminated on the dashboard. A faulty sensor can lead to longer stopping distances and increased risk of wheel lockup, especially in adverse weather conditions. Without accurate wheel speed data, the traction control system may also become less effective, affecting overall vehicle safety.
