How it works
Inside sits a robust microcontroller with power drivers. It watches wheel speed, steering angle, yaw rate, and throttle via CAN. Based on conditions, it commands the actuator to shift 2H/4H, locks as needed, and modulates ABS valves for A-TRC and hill assist. What happens if it’s faulty
Warning lights (4WD, ABS, VSC) appear, 4WD may flash or refuse to engage, the transfer case can stick, and traction drops—wheelspin on wet turns, longer stops, unstable towing. DTCs for wheel speed/CAN/solenoids are common. You can often drive, but performance is in limp mode; overheating or uneven wear may follow.
