Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor for Toyota
This sensor is a key part of the engine control system. It helps the ECU keep the air and fuel mix at the correct ratio for smooth power, low emissions, and good fuel economy ⛽️. When the mixture is right, the catalytic converter also stays protected from overload and overheating.
Why this part is needed
Modern Toyota engines rely on precise feedback from the exhaust stream. This sensor reads oxygen content and mixture quality, so the ECU can fine-tune injector pulse and short/long fuel trims. Without accurate data, the engine cannot self-correct under different loads and temperatures.
How it works
Mounted in the exhaust, the sensor uses an internal element and heater circuit to reach operating temperature fast. It sends a real-time signal to the ECU, allowing closed-loop control during idle, cruise, and acceleration for stable AFR control.
What happens if it fails
