Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor for Toyota Engines βοΈ
This sensor is a key part of the fuel injection and emission system. It βsniffsβ the exhaust stream and tells the ECU how rich or lean the engine is running. With that live feedback, the ECU fine-tunes injector pulse and ignition trim to keep the mixture near ideal. The result is smoother idle, stronger throttle response, better fuel economy, and a cleaner catalytic converter operation β
Why this part is needed
Modern Toyota engines rely on precise mixture control. Even small deviations can raise fuel consumption and push emissions out of range. This sensor helps the ECU correct changes caused by temperature, altitude, fuel quality, and normal engine wear.
How it works
A heated sensing element reacts to oxygen content in the exhaust. The built-in heater brings it up to temperature fast, so closed-loop control starts quickly after cold start. The ECU reads the signal and constantly adjusts fueling in real time.
If the sensor is failing or broken π¨
Expect a check engine light, rough running, hesitation, higher fuel use, fuel smell, failed emissions test, and possible catalytic converter damage from running too rich for too long.
